3 Places that You Must Visit on Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida is an island southeast of Indonesia's island Bali and a district of Klungkung Regency that includes the neighbouring small island of Nusa Lembongan. The Badung Strait separates the island and Bali. The interior of Nusa Penida is hilly with a maximum altitude of 524 metres. It is drier than the nearby island of Bali. There is very little tourist infrastructure. There are two small islands nearby - Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan - which are included within the district. Administratively, the kecamatan of the same name, had a population of 45,178 in 2010 census, covering 202.6 km2, very little changed from 10 years prior.

1. Atuh Beach

The reason that makes most people less aware of the existence of Atuh beach due to lack of promotion over the last few years. Also, the distance to Atuh beach from tourist areas in Bali such Kuta Beach Bali is quite far away. Because many tourists who do not know about Atuh beach Bali, making Atuh beach still considered as a rarely visited beach in Bali.

However, in the next two years from now, it will be a different story. Due to intent promotion were held by Klungkung government in promoting Nusa Penida Bali. The development of Nusa Penida by Klungkung government, for sure it will make Atuh beach, will no longer as one of the hidden beaches in Bali. Also, in the next few years coming, it will become one of the famous beaches in Bali.

The best time to visit Atuh Beach Nusa Penida, is in the morning, around 05:30 am for sunrise. Due to the location of Atuh beach facing east. From the top of the cliff, you will be fascinated by the beauty of the morning view from Atuh beach Nusa Penida. However, if you want to see the sunset on the island of Nusa Penida, then you must visit Pasih Uug Beach Nusa Penida, not Atuh beach Nusa Penida Bali.

If you want to go here, please go with local guide or rent a car with driver. The long rocky roads make it not save by you who not usually use motorcycle in their country. Recommended for experienced motorcycle riders. Stay saved and happy holiday

2. Kelingking Beach

Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida Southeast of Bali, there is an island that is still largely untouched by tourism. With limited infrastructure and not many tourist sights, Nusa Penida is rather an off-the-beaten-track destination. Therefore it is a great place to escape the crowds of Bali and relax. Whether it' s while trekking in the beautiful hills of the island, staring at the limestone cliffs dropping off into the sea or diving in one of the world class sites.

This is more of a viewpoint than a hike, but it's certainly worth making a detour to see! Bring small change cash to pay the entrance fee at the top, and there is a small hut with locals who can sell you snacks, water, or fresh coconuts as refreshments.

You'll park in a dirt lot with views of the ocean, and you can follow a dirt path downhill to the right of the stand. There are no signs, and some of the visitors resting at the stand didn't even realize there was a more magnificent lookout just down the path. After about 100 feet, you will suddenly emerge at the edge of a cliff that narrows into very thin peninsula jutting out into the ocean.

3. Broken Beach

If you plan to come here, try to come at a dropping or low tide and be prepared for the rugged road! Also know that there is no bathroom, but there is a small stand right by Broken Beach to buy snacks and water if you need to refuel. Also bring small change cash, as almost all of the attractions on Nusa Penida require an 'entrance fee'.

If you're going separate from a tour, I'd recommend downloading an offline Google Maps of the area and saving your destinations as stars so you can be sure you're heading in the right direction. Seems like almost everyone who explores Nusa Penida gets lost at one point, but it's also part of the adventure :)
